The highlight of my day today was running at Poole parkrun, with 550 or so other runners – one of whom will be representing England at the Commonwealth Games in 2 weeks time. Steve Way is that man. His story is remarkable and well worth a read, and we had the opportunity to run with him and wish him well.
Not only that, but a fair number of us were able to wear our Steve Way shirts, emblazoned with the quote that he refers to occasionally. It even got put on the flag that I believe will be going to Scotland for the games – look out for it on TV! Amazingly, thanks to Denise and Kev Day an incredible £850 profit has been raised through the sale of the shirts, all going to Julia’s House, a local Childrens Hospice – a great cause!
So, all the very best to Steve as he goes for his blast around the Marathon route. Perhaps if I gave up cake I could be there in a few years time…. Oh wait, give up cake? No Chance!
